Kai and I spend 10–15 minutes every morning doing this learning board I made for him, and it’s been such a fun part of our routine. He says “DO BOARD” every morning. I really feel like it’s helped with his number and letter recognition, while also teaching him things like the weather and days of the week. His favorite parts are definitely the movements and the three little items that go with the letter of the week.
Background
I’m Sonia Layla, and I became a mom in October 2024. Since then, I’ve really loved creating for Kai — everything from meals, to learning tools, to little crafts and activities.
When it comes to food, I’m very much about trying new things and making baby/toddler food feel exciting rather than separate. From the beginning, I’ve tried to make Kai meals that feel similar to the kinds of things I’d want to eat myself at home or at a restaurant, just adapted for him. I love introducing different flavours, textures, and ingredients in a relaxed and fun way.
I also love incorporating learning into our everyday routines where I can. I really believe babies and toddlers are little sponges at this age, so even small things like talking about the weather, letters, numbers, colours, or doing simple activities together can add up over time. That said, I’m definitely not trying to turn the whole day into a lesson — for me the biggest thing is finding tools that help keep it engaging and enjoyable.
